I have been in the beauty industry for over 20 years, training here in Tauranga as the first ever class in the College of Beauty Therapy in 2000.
I was lucky enough to be trained by 2 amazing tutors, one which I eventually ended up working for in her own salon for over 7 years, where we were encouraged and supported to do as much post graduate training as possible, and eventually becoming the manager of the growing salon, at one time with 13 staff to work with. I credit my boss at this time for the therapist I am today.
During this time, I grew a passion for training the staff, so I went on to pursue a career in tutoring beauty therapy at a local college. As much as I loved working with students, it was during this time I realized I missed being fully hands on and treating clients so I took the path of being self employed and starting my own small business. I have been doing this for 10 years now and have not looked back.
2015 I decided to take the plunge and expand my knowledge even more by training and becoming qualified in the art of cosmetic tattooing, this is continued post graduate training and has now become my absolute passion. Its an ever expanding business, that will keep me challenged for years to come.
Our boutique studio space has expanded to include some amazing talented women, 4 other tattoo artists, Emma of Lacuna tattoo arts, Georgia @georgiatattoos, Siobhan @spiritink, and Dakota @dakotaarts.
We are also trained breathwork practitioners and reiki healers so we bring an element of holistic healing into the space.
And very exciting of recent we have had a new team member join us, mother/daughter team, Caitlin, who has come on as the beauty therapy apprentice, under a Hito 2 year apprenticeship, and is already fast becoming a perfectionist at the trade.
We proudly recognize we were the first business of its kind to combine all aspects of beauty therapy, cosmetic tattooing and traditional tattooing in a boutique, soft, safe & private environment.
This has been super exciting and has brought a whole new energy and dynamic into our space and for our clients.
Within the beauty business, it is such an ever growing industry. Products and treatments are continually changing. Science and technology continually brings new and improved techniques, treatments and products, along with passionate people in our industry who are always researching and looking to improve, discover new things and grow.
